Weavemaster Loom
I have been thinking about weaving for a while now but couldn't justify spending big money on yet another piece of equipment. I always keep an eye on ebay and a few weeks ago I saw a 4 shaft loom for sale from someone in Winchester. The opening bid was 99p so I thought it was worth taking a chance on it. To my surprise no one bid on it so for 99p and the petrol money to collect it from Winchester it was mine! I collected it in the dark so didn't see the sorry state it was in until the next morning. I know nothing about looms so I turned to my lovely pals at the New Forest Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers. Linda is our Chairman and a wonderful weaver. She had a good look at the loom and declared that it could be resurrected to a useful life. This is what I plan to do:
A good clean using a home made concoction (recipe to follow)
Clean the heddles and possibly replace with nylon ones
Replace the hooks and cord on the shafts
I have no idea how old this loom is. There doesn't seem to be much information available on the maker although I did read another posting saying that it was a London company. It will be nice to get this old timer back up and running.

New Territory
Welcome to my blog. This is new territory for me but something I have toyed with for a long time. It will be a little window into my world of spinning, knitting, dyeing and whatever else catches my attention. I hope you join me on the way.....
